Andrès Gin Of The Week: Fabelhaft Gin

If you know the “Fabelhaft Wines” of Portugal, you should also try this gin.

Fabelhaft Gin

Fabelhaft Gin

Owner Dirk Niepoort and Hamburg wine merchant Dirk Delventhal wanted to add a gin to their range of wines. The result was Fabelhaft Gin, which is distilled with Mediterranean botanicals in Hamburg. One particular botanical is the lacquer cistus. The cistus is hand-picked in Niepoort’s vineyards and refined together with eight other botanicals to create Fabelhaft Gin.

Already when opening the bottle light juniper and citrus notes flow into the nose, surrounded by floral nuances. On the palate, the juniper is also immediately apparent, entwined with spicy and fresh notes of coriander and rosemary. Oranges, limes, and lemons give the Fabelhaft Gin a wonderfully fresh note.
Pure or on ice, the Fabelhaft Gin is a real treat. If you want to use the fine gin for long drinks or the classic gin and tonic, do not overpower the varied and fresh flavors.

I enjoy the gin with the Tassoni Tonic and grapefruit to further emphasise the citrus note. Those who do not want this so strong can fall back on the Ambition Tonic from Mistelhain. Cheers .
